Autumn/ Winter Booster 2024 – Starting October 4th
As part of our commitment to keeping you safe and healthy this winter, M W Phillips Pharmacy is offering the Autumn/ Winter Booster 2024 COVID-19 vaccination alongside our flu vaccination service. Protect yourself from both the flu and COVID-19 this season with our convenient, walk-in services at selected branches.
Who is Eligible for the Winter Booster via the NHS for Free?
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has outlined specific groups who are eligible for the 2024 COVID-19 Winter Booster:
-Adults aged 65 and over
-People with underlying health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease)
-Pregnant women
-Healthcare and social care workers
-If you're unsure about your eligibility, our friendly pharmacy team is on hand to help. The booster is especially important for those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

How Do I Get My Vaccination?
At M W Phillips Pharmacy, we make it easy for you to stay protected. You have two options:
Walk-In Service: No need to book! Simply visit any of our branches during opening hours, and we'll take care of you (subject to availability).

Is the Vaccination Safe?
All vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccines, must pass rigorous testing for quality, safety, and effectiveness before they are approved for use in the UK. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has thoroughly assessed all COVID-19 vaccines used in the UK to ensure they meet the highest safety standards.

Are There Any Side Effects?
As with any vaccine, some people may experience mild and temporary side effects after receiving the COVID-19 booster. These side effects typically last no more than a week and may include:
A sore arm where the vaccine was administered
Cold or flu-like symptoms, such as tiredness, headache, or fever
If needed, you can take paracetamol to ease any discomfort. If you experience any side effects that persist longer than a week, we recommend contacting your healthcare provider for advice.
